It was kind of funny that mowing lawn could do this for me, but while mowing lawn I remembered people that are very important to me.
What did I see? Well after being on vacation and having a week of catch up to do, our lawn didn't get the attention that it really needed so there were clumps of grass and the lawn really needed the attention. And driving the lawn mower I remembered my maternal grandfather. He loved his riding lawn mower and loved that he was able to mow lawn even with his poor health. I had the memory so clear in my mind because it was a past time he had loved.
What did I feel? I felt the sunburn setting in and whenever I have a sunburn I am reminded of my best friend in heaven. Now not only do I think about her often, but when ever I get a sunburn I am reminded of the days when we had no time for sunscreen because the fish were biting and we had to paddle our canoe over to catch some fish. Fisherwomen we were!
What did I hear? Johnny Cash-Daddy sang bass. Now Johnny Cash and Polka bring me back to my grandfather on my dads side all the time. Heck yah I sang loud and proud while driving the lawn mower.
What did I smell? Cut grass and the smell of cut grass brings me to my grandmother who's birthday would have been today! She hated that smell of grass and would get so sick. Why it reminds me of her I am not sure, but I was reminded of how she would have rollers in her hair a towel over her nose so she couldn't smell the grass.
Now I have these memories and so many photos that I am brought to the title how do we preserve it?
Simple....A photograph. But the most important part of a photograph is to have it printed. There are so many times when photos stay on my computer and never leave and will never be seen. But why? Is it because we live in such a digital world? So my advice is to start getting those prints ordered, and make sure you hang them and be proud of those people and places you love! They wont be around forever.
